What is Cranksgiving?

Cranksgiving is an alley cat race that is part bike ride, part holiday giving drive, and part scavenger hunt. Cyclists supply the bike, a bag, and about $20 to spend on winter hats, gloves, mittens, socks and personal care items. You can download a flyer [here] and our press release [here].

How does it work?

  • Summit Cycling Center gives cyclists a map and a list of items needed most by the less fortunate in our community. Cyclists select their route for the race.
  • Cyclists visit stores and buy at least 10 items valued at $20 during the bike ride. They return to Summit Cycling Center. All items collected are donated to the St. Bernard’s Food Pantry.
  • Cyclists receive 1 raffle ticket for each item they collect as an entry to the door prize drawings.
  • Summit Cycling Center is hosting a free lunch afterwards. Door prizes and other prizes will be awarded during the cyclists’ celebration.

Who can participate?

  • Cyclists must be at least 18 years old.
  • Cyclists must obey all traffic laws and safe road cycling practices.
  • Both road and trail cyclists are welcome to chose the path of their ride.
  • Cyclists can race against the clock in the spirit of an alley cat race or ride socially at a comfortable pace.
  • Cyclists can ride solo or as part of a team.
