Summit Cycling Center (SCC) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven, bicycle co-operative, located in downtown Akron, Ohio. Our mission is to promote the use of bicycles and other human-powered vehicles as transportation alternatives.
We are an urban cyclist’s co-operative, that provides affordably priced cycle goods and services. SCC recycles used bikes, and refurbishes them to support the center and provide an opportunity for members to learn about bicycle mechanics.
SCC is developing programs that teach safe cycling and bicycle maintenance / repair. SCC also looks to develop micro-enterprise opportunities for employment within the co-op, and the community!
Are you a member of the cooperative or do you have an interest in our work? Why not join us at our next general meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Rubber City Swap Meet
Every spring Summit Cycling Center hosts a bicycle swap meet for Akron area cyclists. It’s a spring cleaning event where cyclists can sell or trade extra cycling valuables. Looking for some cool cycling gear? Our vendors offer a variety of bicycles and cycling gear at super prices. Many are open to trading your treasure for one of theirs. The date is typically announced in late winter with the swap meet being held in April. Check out the swap meet web page for the most current event news.
Every November Summit Cycling Center joins bicycle cooperatives and advocacy organizations around the USA by sponsoring Cranksgiving Akron. Cranksgiving is an alley cat race that is part bike ride, part holiday giving drive, and part scavenger hunt. Cyclists supply the bike, a bag, and about $20 to spend on winter hats, gloves, mittens, socks and personal care items. The date is typically announced in late fall. Check out the Cranksgiving web page for the latest news.
