Friday evening was a blast with Summit Cycling hosting Akron Bike Party at the swap meet. We celebrated Bike Party’s second birthday with food and drink.
The highlight of Saturday’s festivities was the annual Rubber City Slow Cycle race. Dave Massary was the slowest winner on record. That man really knows how to pedal slow.
Store up your cycling valuables and get your spare bikes ready for next year. The Rubber City Bicycle Swap Meet will return in the sping of 2017.
Summit Cycling Center (SCC) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven, bicycle co-operative, located in downtown Akron, Ohio. Our mission is to promote the use of bicycles and other human-powered vehicles as transportation alternatives.
We are an urban cyclist’s co-operative, that provides affordably priced cycle goods and services. SCC recycles used bikes, and refurbishes them to support the center and provide an opportunity for members to learn about bicycle mechanics.
SCC is developing programs that teach safe cycling and bicycle maintenance / repair. SCC also looks to develop micro-enterprise opportunities for employment within the co-op, and the community!
Are you a member of the cooperative or do you have an interest in our work? Why not join us at our next general meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
